Taking Back Sunday in the CD101 Big Room - 07.04.06
Lesley James: We
are live in the CD101 Big Room (applause) with Taking Back Sunday.
Taking Back Sunday:
Hello
LJ: Hi guys
TBS: Hello, Happy 4th
of July
LJ: Happy 4th
of July
TBS: Thanks for
having us.
LJ: Thanks for
coming in. Adam and Fred of Taking Back Sunday.
TBS: Yes
LJ: Playing a big
CD101 show tonight at the LC along with Angels and Airwaves, The Subways, Head
Automatica.
TBS: Yes
LJ: How did this
tour come about?
TBS: I thought of
it. Yeah (laughter) No, like we wanted to go out on a pretty big summer tour,
and the thing with Angels and Airwaves is Tom Delong and we had done stuff with
him before, he had done a video for us, and we are really excited to do
something again with him. They just have a record that just come out as well as
ours that just came out so the timing worked out really well. And then Head
Automatica they’re from where we are from in New York. So that was really cool
to have them. And we are just big fans of The Subways so we asked them and they
said yes.
LJ: Yeah, what a great line up. It’s going to be
one hell of a show tonight that’s for sure.
TBS: Yeah, you’re in for it.
LJ: All right. And what are your plans after this tour?
TBS: After this tour we go to Japan. Yeah, our first time
in Japan. And then in the fall we’ll be hitting all these places in
Europe we haven’t been, Spain and Italy and really beautiful places that
we have always wanted to go with Underoath none the less. Yeah.
LJ: Good for you guys, we’re jealous. I wish we could go to Europe with
you. All right do you want to get into a song?
TBS: Yeah, lets do it.
LJ: All right, Taking Back Sunday live in the CD101 Big Room.
(Applause)
TBS: Yay us. |

Make Damn Sure
|
LJ: Taking Back
Sunday, playing at the LC tonight. There are still a few tickets available, go
get them. Louder Now, the new album.
TBS: Yes
LJ: Available now
on Warner Brothers.
TBS: It’s one
louder, yes.
LJ: Awesome,
awesome album. We kind of have a question. This is Jameson over here. Kind of
relating to the album a little bit. He wants to know, since you guys jumped to
a major label, what’s the biggest change in the making of Louder Now compared to
your older records?
TBS: We got a
helicopter for this one. (laughter) No, I think the biggest change is that we
just got to use the producer we wanted to use. Like Eric Valentine produced
Louder Now and he’s someone who’s been like our top choice for a long time but
like before being on Warner’s we didn’t have the means to get him really. So
that was really the only thing. Everything about the way we wrote the record
was the same, we were in this tiny room in New York City, sitting there fighting
with each other, writing. Same old stuff and the record was written when we
came to Eric but the fact that he got to be apart of it. It sounds, I’d say
this is the record we are the most proud of because of how it sounds, it sounds
more like our live show and it just grabs that energy that we thought we might
have lacked before.
LJ: Great
TBS: Good answer.
LJ: Very nice. I
read somewhere that you guys write a lot on the road or do you have equipment on
the tour bus?
TBS: Yeah, we have
a studio in the back of our bus and we sit back there late nights. I usually
keep Adam up with loud electric guitars right behind this bunk.
TBS: Yeah, but it’s
fine because he plays so pretty.
(Laughter)
LJ: Want to do
another one for us?
TBS: Sure.
LJ: Taking Back
Sunday live in the CD101 Big Room.
(Applause)
Play:
(Applause)
LJ: Taking Back
Sunday live in the CD101 Big Room. Adam and Fred, thank you so much for coming
in. Playing tonight at the LC along with Angels and Airwaves, The Subways and
Head Autimatica. One more question for you guys.
TBS: Anything.
(laughter)
LJ: Tell me about
this bloody mic t-shirt, and Matt’s not here right now, but.
TBS-Fred: I can
talk about this because Adam doesn’t want to here it. We were playing in
England at this festival.
TBS-Adam: 15,000
TBS-Fred: Yeah, a
lot of people watching Adam right here and swinging his mic around. And it went
around once, it went around twice and then suddenly it dropped to the floor
behind him.
TBS-Adam: No, like
I tossed it around my neck. But what I was doing was I was just being cocky
about it. Because I was seeing how far I could see it could go. Because we
were on this huge stage and I was like, Why not? And yeah, it goes around twice
and then all you hear is “thump”.
TBS-Fred: And yeah,
it hit something. And that thing was Matt’s head.
TBS-Adam: His
forehead right above his eye.
TBS-Fred: And I
didn’t know what happened, I just saw Matt on the ground.
|
TBS-Adam: He like
didn’t even wobble, he just fell straight backwards. I laid him out cold.
TBS-Fred: So he
went off stage for a little bit and we kept the show going. They just kept
telling us to keep playing. Matt came back with this big giant mummy gauze
thing wrapped around his head 20 times. He actually finished the show. Yeah,
very bloody. Then he had to go to an English hospital and get stitches, like a
bunch of them.
LJ: And now you
guys have t-shirts, right?
TBS-Adam: Well, we
like to celebrate our faults.
LJ: Okay
TBS-Fred: I
actually got Adam back for Matt.
TBS-Adam: Last
night.
(Applause)
Little playing
TBS: We are really
professional.
TBS: Totally
professional. All right, let’s do it.

A Decade Under the Influence |
LJ: That was
awesome. Wow, wow wow wow. Taking Back Sunday live in the CD101 Big Room.
Thank you guys so much for coming in today.
TBS: Thank you.
Thanks for having us.
LJ: Louder Now is
their new album, in stores now on Warner Brothers. Go get it. Big show tonight
at the LC. CD101 show at the LC. Taking Back Sunday, let’s give them one more
round of applause. Thanks again guys.
